Mountain View is a small city between Palo Alto and Santa Clara just northwest of San Jose. This Santa Clara County community is nestled in Silicon Valley named for his gorgeous views of the Santa Cruz Mountains. It was originally developed as a stagecoach stop but eventually was one of the principal cities of Silicon Valley. It’s home to about 71,000 residents. This diverse community is located in the heart of Silicon Valley just 10 miles north of San Jose and 35 miles suouth of San Francisco. The city is over 12 mi.² with many nationally and internationally known corporations. It also has a thriving small business space. Mountain View offers excellent public services, parks, and facilities to meet the needs of their diverse community and stays true to the traditional values of strong neighborhoods and citizen involvement.
Most of the town consists of residential neighborhoods. There are a few business parks located mostly in the North Shoreline neighborhood north of Highway 101. Larger neighborhoods and master-planned communities such as Blossom Valley is comprised of four smaller neighborhoods with ranch-style houses built around the 1950s. Another popular neighborhood is the Monta Loma located between the bounds of San Antonio River and Central Expressway. These homes feature California style architecture designed by Joseph Eichler, John Calder McKay, and Mardell building company. Neighborhoods such as Cuemavaca located off of Crestview Drive used to be the location of a cherry orchard, a nine-hole golf course, a swivel club, and now primarily housing completed in 1989. These homes feature Spanish-style architecture with red-tiled roofs. You can see that there’s a variety of architecture and design styles throughout Mountain View with just as much variety in pricing. There something for everyone in this residential, small town, yet close to everything community.
Mountain View is one of the major cities that make up the Silicon Valley tech economy. There are several major companies with either campus sites or headquarters within the city such as Google and Mozilla. Other primary employers include Intuit Symantic, the El Camino Hospital, Microsoft, LinkedIn, and Samsung Electronics. We’re also home to the Shoreline Amphitheater, the largest concert venue in Silicon Valley (pictured above) and the Googleplex, Google’s headquarters campus (right).
Mountain View offers a variety of public and private schools throughout the Mountain View Whisman School District. There are nine elementary schools, two middle schools, and the Mountain View high school, which receives a 9 out of 10 for ratings. Most of their schools are at least a 6 or higher on Great schools.org ratings.
